Enikö Szöllössy with her medals leads the viewer into an unknown land. Rapidly it becomes a world in which we can participate; mind and emotions are stimulated. The sign posts are familiar. Yet everything is strange, not quite what it seems to be. A voyage of discovery is initiated. She proves that not only is the medal a reflection of history, but equally surely it is a witness to current affairs.

She displays impressive technical ingenuity, coupled with the ability to conjure a wide range of reactions in others. Her recent bronzes are cerebral and also touch deep emotional chords.

This ability to suggest much has been achieved by creating a world of her own. We enter into it, for there are points of reference with everyday experience. Indeed, sometimes the classical order of things is evoked, and at others, a bronze which is a compulsive metaphor for our space age, Szöllössy both hints at the possibilities of the new  world and suggests that it cannot be divorced from the mundane.
